I took a stroll down 'treat street' this week and bagged myself two Matte Me lip creams from Sleek. It was love at first sight. These are typically liquid lipsticks that dry matte. Said to be a well matched dupe for the Hourglass Lip Lacquers, I was itching to give them a try. And I gave in. They were far too tempting to resist. Let me introduce you to these wonderful finds of mine…
Formula | The formulas of these are fast drying - very similar to a lip stain, but thicker. In case it may have slipped past you, these dry matte. But they pack a punch when it comes to pigmentation. The colour of these products go on beautifully. If your itching for a bright bold lip that won't move - this is the product you need to grab. They can be slightly drying though, so I would pop this over a lip balm to give your lips a bit of TLC. It just means it takes longer to dry.
Application | Applying this can be a bit tricky. And by tricky, I mean messy. First up, I have learnt not take this product into the inner corners of my mouth. I find by doing so, a lot of the product ends up inside my mouth. Not really what I want to happen. Secondly, it takes practice to do this without a lip liner. The product can be quite slippery when applying to your lips so getting a neat line with just the wand is a challenge. I always have a lip liner to hand. However, for the purpose of the review, I have taken a photo to show you what I mean (without using a lip liner).
Wear | True to its word, these are long lasting. Even wiping it off takes time. Once they are on they stick. They don't stain your glass when you are trying to sip some water, nor do they get all over your food. I would however avoid eating a carbonara with this product on. The sauce really can be quite the make up remover, when you do not want it to be. I would recommend that you exfoliate your lips when popping this on though, as you can tell it clings to every part of your lips, meaning if they are chapped it would look so obvious.
Colour | I picked up the lip creams in 'Petal' and 'Party Pink'. Petal is a gorgeous light pink rose, with a dusky edge. Its super beautiful. It really is lovely for those days you want a bit of glam, but still stay pretty neutral. Its definitely an easy colour to wear out. Party Pink is a vibrant neon pink with orange undertones. It really gives you a bold lip. If your looking to make a statement, this is seriously an option. Its great for those who are too scared to wear a bright red but still want to see if they would match it. Definitely my favourite of the two.
With a price tag of £4.99, can you really say no?
