The Concealer Guide: Tips & Tricks

Concealer tips and tricks

I would like to Introduce you to 'The Concealer Guide: Tips & Tricks'. Here are a few tips I have managed to pick up along the way that may just help you out. Enjoy!

Prevent your Concealer Caking

If you concealer tends to cake up on your face, here are a couple of things you can do to resolve those issues. Always apply your concealer on smooth moisturised skin. For smooth application, your concealer needs to be able to slide onto the skin nicely. Dry Skin can cause your concealer to cake

The second tip is to use liquid based concealers instead of cream pots. Cream Concealers tend to be quite dry. Their formula's often do not hold enough moisture and it can cause caking especially if your applying it underneath the eye. A liquid Concealer will be able to move better with the skin around the eyes. Cream concealers do not move as well with the skin around the eyes.

Flawless Concealer Application

The best way to apply your concealer is with a Beauty Blender. No other tool can achieve the flawless application that a beauty blender can. It leaves your concealer looking 'invisible'. This Sponge applicator in particular works well in spot concealing. It is worth the investment.

How to Repair your Concealer

Creasing happens to everyone. But do not fret, there is a quick way to fix it - even if your out on the go! If your concealer has creased take your damp or dry beauty blender and dab your concealer back into place. It will be corrected. Setting your concealer into place with a powder just after you apply it, helps to prevent your concealer from moving about. These two tips work wonders to help keep your concealer in place all day!

Conceal Dark Circles

Conceal your dark under eye circles with a yellow or peach toned Concealer. This will help to cover blue or purple shadows that sit underneath your eyes.

Conceal Redness & Blemishes

Again with redness and spots a beauty blender is your best 'Go To' tool! Another tip that will help is to conceal your blemishes with yellow toned concealers. They are the closest shade to green on the colour wheel and do a great job to help you cover red spots. Set your concealer into place with a powder to keep it in place.

Choose your Concealers wisely

There are many different applicators that come with concealers and a lot of them benefit you in different ways. Brush Applicators that come with concealers make application of your concealer really easy. They also help to blend the product out. Metal Concealer Applicators help to reduce Puffiness whilst Cream Concealers are great at covering spots, pimples and blemishes. Liquid Concealers are best for under eye application.

A Quick 'On the Go' Trick

If your in a bit of a pickle, you need to have impressive skin at the very last minute whilst your out and about, take a concealer & mix it in with a moisturiser to create your very own BB Cream. It will help to create a flawless base in no time at all.

  5. Beauty blenders are such a life saver but for some reason I don't use it with my concealer, only foundation. I'm going to need to try it out! My tip would to always put concealer over foundation (obv), I remember first getting in to make up and I used to put it under foundation and wonder why it never worked properly! x
