September Favourites

September has been a great month for both the blog and beauty finds. I have found some great little gems this month and I thought I'd share them with you in another 'Monthly Favourites' feature. I love writing these. Here are my September loves…

Beauty Blender

I recently managed to give one of these beauty blenders a home. And I was surprised to find that it improved my foundation application a whole lot more then it did a brush. Those pesky little dry patches that I was struggling with around the nose etc went a whole lot more smoothly then the usual routine. It has a particularly nifty pointed tip that is great for applying concealer/ foundation in the smaller areas of your face like around the eyes or along the nose. It honestly gives you a flawless look that looks like your skin but better. I don't think I can put this sponge down now. Its in the make up bag.

Benefit 'Its Potent' Eye Cream

With a lot of eye creams I find they don't moisturise the skin around my eyes enough. I love rich, moisturising eye creams that make my skin feel and look healthy, glowing and refreshed. You could say I am very fussy when it comes to eye creams. But recently I had the pleasure of testing out Benefits 'Its Potent' Eye cream and I was surprised to find that I liked it. A lot. The formula is light and cooling to the skin of the eyes. Its nice to feel that you can actually feel this product sink right into your skin. And to top it all off, I feel the skin around my eyes feels more bouncy and alive. It throws tired looking eyes away for a nice healthy look.

Urban Decay 'Naked Basics' Palette

This palette has been featured everywhere. No need for me to brag about this little one. Its already been done. But I have recently made a new discovery with this palette. Low and behold this palette still seems to surprise me. I have managed to turn this into the perfect product for brows. With this palette I can easily create a shade to match my hair colour. Its a bit of a miracle discovery but it was a happy find. These matte shades are very pigmented, buttery and are far from chalky. They sit well and in the brows, they don't budge. Its a double investment with this palette. Just think - Lids and brows...

Mac 'Plumful' Lipstick

I have made no secret of it, I am going through a plums lipstick phase. But this is definitely the queen bee of all plum lipsticks. Its just stunning. The shade is a rich plum toned lustre with hints of red/ pink undertones. It is a truly fascinating colour. Whilst Lustres can be quite sheer, it is easily buildable, so you can go with a bold injection of colour or a sheer wash depending on what your in the mood for on the day. This lipstick holds the essence of autumn within it. If your in the mood for a new lipstick - Please try this…

Revlon Click Eyeshadows 'Cocoa & Satin'

Since we are coming into Autumn, I have been using these two shades a whole lot more. Together they create the most beautiful smokey eye. Its this kind of season where I love the warm chocolate brown and rich satin shades. I just find they are perfect for Autumn. Revlon have created this nifty click system that allows you to buy a lot of mono shades and slot them together to create a mini palette. Together its a gorgeous pair that has accompanied my look at many of the blogger events this month. Ooh la la.

  1. I was pretty much sold on Real Techniques's beauty sponge - given how much I love it I really should give the Beauty Blender a try, seeing how it is the sort of "original" and all. I like the look of the Urban Decay Basics palette but the new one seems to be more suited to my skin tone - I like your thinking though, if it is as multi purpose as that it improves its cost-use value quite a lot! x

    1. I have both sponges and I prefer the Beauty Blender 100x more. It's a shame it's expensive, but it's the best I've tried :)

    2. I think the beauty blender works slightly better then the real techniques one but the price difference is crazy. I suppose when your picking up a palette rocking quite a high price tag you have to buy one that suits your skin tone and that you will use a lot. But this has been amazing for my brows. My brow mare is finally over! Haha

  4. I like the idea behind those Revlon eye shadows but I haven't heard the best things about them - but I might purchase that brown shade, it looks lovely and definitely autumn-appropriate.
I've been really into nail polishes at the moment specifically Nails Inc stuff!

    1. I am going to say - they aren't the most pigmented. With a dry brush you pick up next to nothing. I was talking to a make up artist about this and she said the trick with these is to apply them with a wet brush. And they really do come out nicely. What I love about these though is that no matter how dark the colour is they come out with a soft look so it makes blending very easy and you can get a really nice soft smokey eye rather then an eye thats all about drama. They aren't going to compare to Urban Decay but with wet application these come out quite lovely!

  5. Plumful looks gorgeous! I tried a sample of the Benefit eye cream and loved it, but haven't convinced myself to go back and buy the full-size yet.

    1. Plumful is one of my favourite lipsticks! Its just so lovely! With an eye cream that has quite a high price tag you definitely should spend time thinking about whether it has any benefits for your skin!
