The Perfect Base for Dry Skin

Foundation that covers dry patches

I love a good make up base that works well to cover dry patches to take me into the colder months. During the winter season my skin gets very dry, red & blotchy - It hates the cold.  As you can imagine it is a bit of a nightmare to manage. So I tend to rely on a good base to make my skin look as 'healthy' and glowing as possible...

Sleek Bare Skin Foundation Shell

Foundations that can cover dry patches

Aveeno Moisturising Cream  £8.93 | LINK

If I had to pick one product to keep forever from this post, it would be this one. I have been through so many moisturisers I cannot count and out of all of them, this one is the best. It works so well as a base on dry/ sensitive skin. This cream has a super moisturising formula that dries quickly and does not leave a greasy film on your skin. These are the qualities that make this the perfect base underneath foundation. Foundation has never been so easy to apply with this product. Its a saviour for both my skin & my foundation.

Sleek 'Control Shine & Prime' Primer * £7.99 | LINK

I tend to use this primer to keep my base lasting longer. And it does a good job of that. By the end of an evening, my make up will still be in good shape. This comes out in paste form and dries very quickly on top of your skin. It feels so light that I do not notice it is there on my skin. A primer that does exactly what it says it does. Its good to use when I am constantly on the go.

Sleek Bare Skin Foundation in 'Shell'*  £8.99 | LINK

Its often quite hard for me to find a foundation that works well for my dry skin. A lot of foundations can sit quite badly when the weather turns colder. This foundation however is very moisturising. It sits beautifully on drier skin types. It is a foundation that does not cling to dry patches. It covers dry patches beautifully. Whilst the coverage of this foundation is quite light, it can be built up to a medium finish. The matte finish of this foundation still leaves you with a natural glow. Altogether this foundation is quite impressive. It doesn't sit too heavy on the skin nor does it have a funny texture. Its a hit from me

Rimmel 'Match Perfection' Concealer £5.99 | LINK

I fall back onto this concealer time and time again. Its just the perfect concealer to use against angry red spots. It does the job well and this product is officially running on empty. It has a brush applicator that is effective at working the product into the skin but its not something I tend to use often. With a beauty blender this stuff gives you that flawless coverage that we all want and love. This concealer also tends to sit around the eyes very well. So if you need an all in one concealer, this is the one to turn to.

Beauty Blender £26.00 | LINK

This is the best tool in the beauty box for concealing spots. Its a bold statement that I am not afraid to make. Forget your brushes, this is your make up saviour. I use the pointed end to pat the concealer over the places I want to and it gives you that flawless glow. No more hard times trying to cover your spots. Your hard battles with them are over.

Mac Matte Blush in 'Mocha'  £18.00 | LINK

I do harp on about this blush quite a lot. But it is something I cannot help. I love to spruce up my base with a lovely natural looking blush. 'Mocha' is just the perfect pink blush to give you a natural looking glow. The pigmentation is not too heavy in these matte blushes, which leads to a lovely light application of blush across the cheek bones. It does not sit too heavy nor too light. It is just the perfect flush to pop on top of your base.

  1. I shall have to try that concealer, a lot of angry spots at the moment! Is that moisturizer specifically for the face? Here's a link to my make-up base: www.amynmore.blogspot.co.uk/2014/07/make-up-face-base.html

  3. I haven't seen many reviews of the Sleek foundation, glad to see that it's good for dry skin though, as I find so many drugstore foundations are drying. I love the packaging too!

  8. I rarely wear primer so I completely forgot to try the one from Sleek. Doh! But I'm gonna start doing my makeup soon and will finally give it a go. I'm enjoying their foundation, though. It's pretty nice. In the end, I'm glad I switched for a darker shade as it's a perfect match for me. :) Mac Mocha is beautiful! I love Mac Blushbaby, which is quite similar to Mocha. x
